Cerry Christmas to you too man. congrats on believing in yourself to go the distance ;)

I hope your reach 400 soon! It's a pleasure listening to your heartwarming music.

"guess my entry didn't reach the "industry standards" the judges intended or whatever the problem was lmao"
Only Sami and Jessie judged that way. I don't even know what the industry standards are :p I gave you high scores in emotion, creativity, and composition. Production was the main source of lost points, and I see someone commented on that. I hope this clarification helps.

Thanks, man! I appreciate the kind words a lot.
Regarding the "industry standard" thing, let me explain. When the competition happened, there was something that slightly left me with a sour taste in my mouth, and when I read Troisnyx's post about the competition (https://troisnyx.newgrounds.com/news/post/1110681), I felt identified with what she described in there. Now after doing some thinking, I think that in this post of mine I wasn't really looking to complain with the judges or criticize their way of judging or anything (i mean, there's a reason why they're judges and I'm not), I just got confused about what and why things happened. But that's all in the past now, maybe I'll give it another shot this year from a different approach, or maybe not idk I'll see what the future holds. Good luck to you too man, hope you continue making that amazing music ^^

Ah I see. I've experienced that sour taste feeling numerous times. One of the reasons I created the vgm challenge is to provide some of the benefits that competitions like nguac and ngadm offer but without the negativity.

This is a community mostly comprised of amateur composers without musical degrees; furthermore, many focus on a specific sphere of music. I realized that there's no good reason assume anything about one's skills relative to others based on the scores. As we saw in your case, one judge panel can provide drastically different results from another.

I wish you good luck as well if you enter one of these competitions. As for me, I think I'm done with entering and judging them.
